Appointment of the FAA Preliminary HF Coordinator. To manage the HF activities included in SASP, a preliminary FAA HF Coordinator (FAA HFC) can be appointed. The FAA HFC’s activities across the stages of the AMS process are to perform, direct, or assist in:

  • Registering the HF Program with the Human Factors Division
  • Defining HF impacts and constraints during investment analysis and requirements determination
  • Developing the Integrated Human Factors Plan for the solution
  • Supporting to the FAA Systems Engineering Lead in the identification and mitigation of HF risks
  • Supporting to the FAA Systems Engineering Lead in the achievement of the HF aspects of program technical cost and schedule goals
  • Specifying the organizational resources that will have a role in the execution of portions of the Integrated Human Factors Plan including vendor organizations, FAA Systems Engineering support personnel, Technical Center test and human factors personnel or other sources
  • Identifying human-system requirements and interfaces for market surveys, trade-off analyses, and prototypes
    Preparing and updating human factors portions of program documents, procurement packages, performance measures and criteria, and data collection efforts
  • Developing and analyzing operational scenarios and human-system modeling (with human-in-the-loop) for operators and maintainers
  • Reviewing and assessing human factors concepts and designs
  • Coordinating human factors efforts and working group activities with the FAA HF Division.
  • Coordinating human factors with system engineering and other disciplines including, where relevant, the Air Traffic representatives, user groups, and unions
  • Overseeing the development HF requirements and contractual documentation including the vendor’s Human Engineering Program Plan
  • Monitoring performance of the vendor’s Human Engineering Program Plan
